Trump’s Supreme Court picks split in ‘train wreck’ transformation: legal analyst

Trump’s Supreme Court picks split in ‘train wreck’ transformation: legal analyst

Two of President Donald Trump's Supreme Court appointees are headed in very different directions, and one legal analyst can't stop watching.

Legal AF host Michael Popok said in a Wednesday episode of the "Unprecedented" podcast with constitutional scholar Lisa Graves that Justice Neil Gorsuch has moved sharply to the right while Justice Amy Coney Barrett is shaping up as the court's new center as the 2026-2027 term opens.

Popok said he once held out hope for Gorsuch, but that has evaporated....

Liberal justice scorches Supreme Court colleagues over 'remarkable and regrettable' ruling

Liberal justice scorches Supreme Court colleagues over 'remarkable and regrettable' ruling

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson called out the majority following a 7-2 Supreme Court ruling that sided with pesticide manufacturers and determined the EPA is the arbiter — not state courts — to decide on cancer warnings on labels.

The ruling in Monsanto v. Durnell reversed the Missouri Court of Appeals after John Durnell sued Monsanto in Missouri state court, claiming 20 years of using Roundup, a glyphosate-based herbicide designed to control weeds, caused his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He argued Monsanto failed to include a cancer warning on its label. A jury awarded him more than $1 million.

The majority's decision could signal that Roundup cancer plaintiffs nationwide will lose their primary avenue for state tort lawsuits. Their recourse is now limited to petitioning the EPA directly to change its assessment of glyphosate....

Legal analysts burn Justice Neil Gorsuch's 'absurd' rationale in gun rights case

Legal analysts burn Justice Neil Gorsuch's 'absurd' rationale in gun rights case

A couple of legal analysts ripped the bizarre rationale in the ruling of a MAGA star on the Supreme Court.

On the Legal AF podcast, host Michael Popok and legal analyst Lisa Graves shared how put off they were by Justice Neil Gorsuch's opinion in the United States v. Hemani ruling. The case involved a Texas gun owner who was found with marijuana and admitted to regularly using the drug.

The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that the federal government can't automatically disarm someone for using marijuana a few times a week, finding the prosecution at the center of the case violated the Second Amendment, according to reporting by SCOTUSblog....

JD Vance's wife breaks with Trump over president's assault on Supreme Court

JD Vance's wife breaks with Trump over president's assault on Supreme Court

Second lady Usha Vance was speaking out this week about how Supreme Court justices deserve "respect" as President Donald Trump has continued lashing out at the high court.

In an interview with ABC on Monday night, Vance told anchor Linsey Davis her thoughts about the Supreme Court justices amid the onslaught of Trump assaults, "sparking concerns about a potential constitutional crisis," The Daily Beast reported.

Vance, who is married to Vice President JD Vance, previously clerked for Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, according to The Beast....

Neil Gorsuch's media tour backfires with 'darkly ironic' twist: columnist

Right-wing figures' responses to Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch's recent book tour have revealed how vast ideological shifts have altered the conservative movement, an analyst reported on Monday.

Salon's Sophia Tesfaye discussed how his remarks while promoting his new children’s book, “Heroes of 1776: The Story of the Declaration,” on "Fox & Friends," Megyn Kelly's podcast, National Review, and conservative presidential libraries were "threatening" and led to a backlash among MAGA followers. The Heritage Foundation president, Kevin Roberts, whose organization is behind Project 2025, has called Gorsuch's approach "completely divorced from our founding," and Fox News’ Will Cain suggested a debate with the justice over Gorsuch's argument that the United States was founded as a "creedal nation."

"So there is something almost darkly ironic about watching Gorsuch embark on one of the friendliest media tours imaginable — one carefully routed through the movement that elevated him and celebrated his confirmation to the Supreme Court as one of the signal achievements of the modern conservative project — only to discover that even this is no longer enough for today’s right," Tesfaye wrote....

Trump in for 'rude awakening' after Supreme Court order with more losses coming: analyst

Trump in for 'rude awakening' after Supreme Court order with more losses coming: analyst

President Donald Trump could face even more legal challenges after the Supreme Court struck down his tariffs, according to an analyst.

Ken Dilanian, justice and intelligence correspondent for MS NOW, pointed to how Trump has plenty of success with the high court and previous rulings in his favor — yet not this time.

"He won a lot of rulings. But now we're getting to some really big ticket items. This was one of them," Dilanian said. "But then there's some other ones upcoming where a lot of legal scholars believe the Supreme Court is not going to rule in his favor. One example is the birthright citizenship case, where Donald Trump is trying to redefine the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, and who can be a citizen in this country. That was argued in April. Remember, initially they looked at the question of whether there could be a nationwide injunction in that case, and they ruled that there could not be, but they didn't rule on the merits. That's coming up. And a lot of people believe that that is not going to go Donald Trump's way." ...
