President Donald Trump was reportedly trying to win back voters he offended in recent weeks with a new stunt, according to reports on Wednesday.

The Guardian's Adam Gabbatt described how Trump's attempt Tuesday night to read from the Bible — the Old Testament's Book of Chronicles — was a move that left religious scholars unimpressed.

"Trump didn’t actually read it to the whole of the US, of course," Gabbatt wrote. "Instead he read it, in a taped message that was broadcast via a slightly janky livestream, to anyone enthusiastic enough to tune into a weeklong, rightwing, 'America Reads the Bible' event where 500 people – a collection of true believers, Republican politicians, grifters, weirdos, and homophobes – are taking it in turns to read the Bible cover to cover."...

Former MAGA figure Candace Owens has come under fire for conspiracy theories, yet carries on relentlessly even as President Donald Trump's base shows signs of fracturing, an analyst said Wednesday.

Salon's Sophia Tesfaye described how right-wing media can't stop Owens, who has continued to tout claims about Charlie Kirk's death and his widow Erika Kirk, most recently in "Bride of Charlie." Owens' YouTube series focuses on her thoughts about Erika Kirk's "lies" and has suggested that she was involved in her husband's murder or "ulterior motives" to take over Turning Point USA, the organization her husband led.

"The conservative media machine is currently discovering, to its evident horror, that it has no idea how to shut one of its biggest creations," Tesfaye wrote. "Candace Owens was handed a megaphone by the late Charlie Kirk, feted by Donald Trump and praised by Focus on the Family as one of 'the many Black giants of the conservative movement.' Now she is being called a vampire and a schizophrenic by the very people who built her platform. And she keeps growing."...

President Donald Trump's State of the Union address revealed an actuality that MAGA can't ignore ahead of midterms.

Salon's Sophia Tesfaye described on Wednesday how the president's "bragging" about destabilizing the nation appealed to some conservative media outlets; however, some right-wing media have seen the noticeable shift underway in the Republican Party.

"There was no recalibration nor hint of strategic retreat, only chest-thumping and grievance," Tesfaye wrote. "Right-wing media lapped it up."...

A right-wing YouTuber's "psychosexual’ obsession amid allegations that he perpetuated a fraud hoax at Somali daycare facilities has revealed MAGA's misogynistic attack on childcare and women, an analyst wrote Monday.

Salon's Amanda Marcotte wrote how Nick Shirley has attempted to use his virginity as a "nonsense" justification for his allegations.

"The YouTuber who moved from 'prank' videos to the more lucrative world of creating MAGA disinformation apparently believes that sexual inexperience is an armor against accusations that he’s a liar," Marcotte wrote....

A legal expert signaled Tuesday that MAGA's "cult of personality" has hit a major breakdown over a specific "ideology" split involving how the right-wing movement plans to handle Nazis and racism.

Journalist and lawyer Jill Filipovic wrote in a Slate report that the breaking point was apparent over the weekend during Turning Point USA's AmericaFest, "as the Nazis vs. Say-No-to-Nazis fissures broke open."

"In something of a Christmas miracle, the MAGA coalition may finally be starting to break down," Filipovic wrote....

An analyst Monday called a MAGA influencer's weaponization of her gender and crusade against empathy "especially dangerous."

Salon's Amanda Marcotte wrote in an opinion piece about far-right Christian pundit Allie Beth Stuckey and how "the right’s modern war on empathy really began with a woman."

Stuckey, a creationist and podcaster, has tried "scaring women into stopping birth control by falsely portraying it as dangerous" and has captured the attention of MAGA with her 2024 book “Toxic Empathy: How Progressives Exploit Christian Compassion,” Marcotte wrote. The concept for her book originated on her podcast "Relatable."...
