Disturbing pattern revealed as judge blisters Trump DOJ's 'slush fund': analyst

A judge had a blistering response Monday for President Donald Trump's Department of Justice "slush fund," which a former Florida lawmaker described as a troubling pattern, CNN reported.

Former Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell responded to the ruling from U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams in the Southern District of Florida, who had noted that Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche had signed a settlement document on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants — highlighting that only the Trump administration's interests were represented. CNN anchor Kasie Hunt referred to it as "one of many examples of where the president has tried to use our system to benefit himself in ways that then the legal system has had to scramble to catch up to."

Mucarsel-Powell called out why the pattern was so problematic....

Legal expert throws cold water on Trump DOJ's 'unsettling' attempt to revive slush fund

January 6ers who attacked cops won't have much luck with a new workaround to Trump's frozen slush fund, according to a legal expert.

Former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman wrote in his Substack about a loophole meant to compensate January 6ers despite the freeze of Trump's $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund. Litman noted that the slush fund "collapsed under bipartisan political pressure last month."

Litman was responding to an article by The Guardian that reported that January 6ers are trying to get paid anyway by filing a claim through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), which allows compensation for people wronged by the government....

'Big loss for Trump' on slush fund draws cheers – and skepticism: 'Don't be fooled'

A federal judge expressed doubts that President Donald Trump's slush fund is truly dead, and she's not alone in her skepticism.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a court order Friday blocking the so-called "anti-weaponization" fund and gave the Department of Justice one week to decide whether Attorney General Todd Blanche or another top-ranking Justice Department official would provide a sworn statement declaring the fund dead.

The Bill Clinton nominee's injunction extends a previous order prohibiting the government from creating or dispersing money from the $1.776 billion settlement agreement the president reached with the IRS....

Trump snubs Bill Pulte for permanent DNI — and selects new pick with his own baggage

President Donald Trump announced his nominee to be the next director of national intelligence on Thursday, snubbing Bill Pulte, who had been placed in the position as the acting director.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he was nominating "highly respected Jay Clayton, former Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the former Head of Sullivan & Cromwell, one of the most prominent and successful Law Firms anywhere in the World, and the current United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, to be the next Director of National Intelligence and, importantly, to serve in my Cabinet."

"Few people anywhere in the Legal Community are respected at the level of Jay. I encourage the United States Senate to confirm Jay as soon as possible," Trump wrote....

Joe Rogan breaks with Trump over 'unprecedented' IRS deal protecting Trump and family

Joe Rogan was stunned after news of President Donald Trump's newly created $1.8 billion slush fund and called the ordeal "crazy," The Daily Beast reported on Tuesday.

The longtime Trump ally spoke about it Monday on his "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast with comedian Tom Segura, discussing the $10 billion lawsuit settlement between Trump and the IRS and how the Department of Justice announced that the fund would compensate allies of the president who claim they were wrongly prosecuted under former President Joe Biden's administration, including Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol rioters.

Rogan took issue with the document signed by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche that forever bars the United States from pursuing any tax claims or other legal actions against the president, his family, his trusts, and his companies....
