A woman from Southern California died after falling off a mountain at Grand Teton National Park, rangers told news outlets. Joy Cho of Simi Valley fell from Teewinot Mountain before dawn on Friday, Aug. 11, in the Wyoming national park, rangers said in a news release, according to SF Gate. She had “significant injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, CNN reported. Her body was flown out by helicopter, the Los Angeles Times said. A young bear burst into a Colorado home and injured an 82-year-old woman inside, Colorado officials said. The encounter took place shortly after midnight Friday, Aug. 11, in Boncarbo, a community near Trinidad, state Parks and Wildlife officials said in a news release. The woman, who was awakened by a crashing sound and her dog growling, discovered a cinnamon-colored black bear weighing about 100 pounds in her mud room, officials said. A man died after collapsing at Death Valley National Park in California as temperatures ticked above 120 degrees. The 71-year-old man collapsed outside the restroom at the Golden Canyon trailhead around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials said the man was covered in sunscreen, wearing hiking clothes and a sun hat. His car was in the popular trail’s parking lot. Park rangers arrived minutes after the man collapsed. They performed CPR and a used a defibrillator, but were unable to save him. NEW YORK — A teenage boy who was pulled from the ocean near New Jersey’s Sandy Hook Beach on Sunday has died, officials said.
