Blundering Trump smacked with swift reminder as Oval Office gaffe called out as illegal

Critics of President Donald Trump tried to sarcastically do him a favor as they warned his recent gaffe suggested illegal activity.

On Friday, Trump answered reporters' questions from the Oval Office, and when asked about the MAGA Inc. Super PAC, which hasn't been sharing funds with GOP contenders ahead of the midterms, he said it's "my money," even though it's not legally his money.

"This money from MAGA Inc. This is my money that I control," Trump said. "We have around $1 billion that I can spend."...

Trump found a new way to keep Republicans 'groveling' for his attention: analyst

President Donald Trump could give Republicans millions for their midterm campaigns, but he's using it to keep them in line, an analyst said.

In a recent episode of "The David Pakman Show," progressive political commentator David Pakman said that Trump has raised $400 million in super PAC cash, but he's sharing almost none of it with Republicans ahead of midterms. The idea is to withhold it so the GOP seeks his approval, Pakman said.

"He wants to be the sun at the center of the solar system," Pakman said. "Trump has a super PAC sitting on $400 million. They've spent about $2 to $3 million helping Republican candidates for the midterms. That is a fraction of 1 percent of the money that Trump controls."...

Super PACs and other outside groups that can raise and spend unlimited sums of money have poured about $1.1 billion into 2024 federal elections as of Aug. 15 — nearly twice what similar groups spent over the same period in the 2020 presidential election cycle when independent expenditures hit an all-time record. ...

‘Clear indication’: Dems accuse GOP congressional candidate of illegal super PAC ties

Michigan’s state Democratic committee has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, accusing a Republican congressional candidate of illegally coordinating with a super PAC funded by his brother, Raw Story has learned.

The letter, from Michigan Democratic Party Chairwoman Lavora Barnes, questions the circumstances surrounding what initially appeared to be a $1 million contribution by Paul Hudson, a Republican candidate for Congress in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District, to the West Michigan for Change super PAC, which is supporting his candidacy.

Make America Great Again, Again! agreed to pay a $6,075 fine and to distribute a policy to its staff on identifying in-kind contributions. The super PAC agreed to do both by May 24.

Revealed: Donors foot the bill for Marjorie Taylor Greene's election law violation

The Federal Election Commission recently fined Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene $12,000 after determining the Georgia congresswoman personally violated an election law after illegally fundraising for a conservative super PAC.

But Greene’s campaign donors — not Greene herself — are footing the bill, according to an image of the payment check that Raw Story obtained from the FEC.

The check for the full $12,000 comes from Greene for Congress Inc., the congresswoman’s donor-fueled campaign committee. ...
