Pennsylvania election probe that Trump falsely touted as a sign of vote-rigging ended without charges

PHILADELPHIA — Federal prosecutors in Harrisburg announced Friday they had found “insufficient evidence” of a crime in an election investigation that President Donald Trump and his allies had repeatedly touted as a sign of vote-rigging in Pennsylvania. The case, involving nine military ballots found discarded in a Luzerne County trash bin, was unusual from the start. Breaking with traditional Justice Department norms that prohibit discussing most ongoing investigations — especially ones that could influence elections — then-U.S. Attorney David J. Freed sent out a news release confirming the pr......

Hero Capitol Police cop was killed by blow to the head with a fire extinguisher during Trump-inspired riot

Officer Brian Sicknick, mortally wounded by a fire extinguisher to the head while defending the U.S. Capitol from rioters, was a true American patriot: An Iraq War veteran, unafraid to question his country’s leaders. Sicknick, a 42-year-old New Jersey native, passed away around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, one day after he was attacked by rioters who invaded the Capitol following an incendiary speech by President Trump. Flags at the Capitol flew at half-staff Friday to honor Sicknick, who joined the Capitol Police in 2008. No arrests were yet made in the killing of the veteran law enforcer, who was inj......

Do cellphone records prove Sacramento ISIS terror suspect is falsely accused of murder?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — For more than a year, federal defenders in Sacramento have been working to get records out of Turkey that they say will prove their case that Omar Ameen, a Sacramento truck mechanic arrested in August 2018 and accused of murdering an Iraqi police officer in 2014, is innocent. Now, as Ameen sits in the Sacramento County Jail awaiting word on whether he will be extradited to face trial in Iraq and, possibly, executed, his lawyers have what they've been waiting for: cellphones records from Turkey that they say prove he could not have been in Iraq the day police Major Ihsan Ab......

Excedrin recalled for holes in bottles

More than 433,000 bottles of Excedrin are being recalled because of holes in the bottom of some bottles that can pose a poisoning risk to children. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced last week that GSK Consumer Healthcare, a division of pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, is recalling five brands of the popular headache medication because of the packaging defects. The holes in the plastic bottles can allow the pills to slip through and harm children who swallow them. Excedrin contains aspirin and acetaminophen, which federal law requires be in child-resistant packaging. GSK in ......

Labor Dept. judge rules Delta retaliated against whistleblower pilot

A U.S. Department of Labor judge ruled that Delta Air Lines discriminated against a pilot who raised safety concerns by calling into question her psychiatric health. Pilot Karlene Petitt filed an Occupational Safety and Health Administration complaint against the airline in 2016. Petitt said that, after she submitted a report to managers about safety issues, Delta grounded her and referred her for a psychiatric examination by a company doctor who then diagnosed her with bipolar disorder. She was later determined to not suffer from bipolar disorder and, nearly two years after being put on paid ......

Tennessee man charged after driving white box truck playing similar audio as Nashville bomber

A man who played “similar” audio outside a Tennessee church as the Nashville suicide bomber on Christmas Day has been arrested, local police announced Sunday night. James Turgeon, 33, drew fears of a copycat Sunday when he parked a white box truck outside Kings Chapel Independent Missionary Baptist Church and convenience store playing similar recordings to those played by Anthony Warner, who allegedly blew his RV up in downtown Nashville. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office began receiving 911 calls around 10:30 a.m. Sunday about the truck and caught up to Turgeon during a traffic stop in W......
