Outrage over MAGA Republican's 'sickening' comments on war casualties erupts online

A MAGA lawmaker and close Trump ally was called out Monday for his comments about troops dying during the Iran war as the United States has launched new strikes.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) spoke with CNN anchor Phil Mattingly about American casualties in the ongoing conflict, which has left 17 U.S. service members dead, including at least three who died during the last several days.

"My condolences go out to the families of our service men and women that are killed," Gimenez said. "That is the nature of warfare. We will have some casualties."...

Republicans furious as Hegseth blindsides Congress with shock troop cancellation

The Pentagon blindsided Republican lawmakers Friday after abruptly scrapping a 4,000-troop deployment to Poland, a decision that reportedly surprised Army leaders, according to Politico.

Army leaders admitted they had no real answers about the shock cancellation, leaving Congress furious over the last-minute move as Republican lawmakers have had conflicting views from the Trump administration involving security efforts in Europe, Politico reported. Last year, lawmakers had established limits for troop withdrawals as tensions mounted over whether the Trump administration would pull back on sending troops to support European allies.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) called it "a slap in the face" to America's NATO allies. ...

Trump lobs ominous threat at US ally during brisk press conference

Trump issued an ominous threat to a key U.S. ally while speaking to reporters on Saturday.

When a reporter asked why Trump is removing 5,000 troops from Germany, the president said that the scale will be larger. His comments come after GOP leaders rebuked Trump for the current reduction of troops, arguing that it "sends the wrong signal" to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We're going to cut way down," Trump said. "We're cutting a lot further than 5,000." ...

'Just the beginning': Pentagon warns of possible boots on the ground — outside Iran

A top defense official told Congress on Tuesday that the United States had not ruled out ground troops in its ongoing conflict against Latin American drug cartels, and so far, military operations in Central and South America were "just the beginning," according to a Politico report.

Joseph Humire, acting assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense, said that lethal boat strikes against alleged drug boats were expected to continue indefinitely. Humire was speaking to a House Armed Services Committee, where Democratic lawmakers had questioned whether the United States had entered another "forever war" without a clear exit strategy or deadline.

"It’s the latest example of the administration doubling down on aggressive foreign policy interventions without clarifying what victory might look like, despite President Donald Trump’s past campaign pledges to avoid embroiling America in more overseas conflicts," Politico reported. "And it raises the prospect that the nation’s armed forces could be further strained amid a massive air war over Iran."...

Trump shrugs at thought of US troops in Iran: 'Just a military operation to me'

President Donald Trump dodged a question on Tuesday about whether the United States would send military troops into Iran.

Trump was in the Oval Office with Irish Prime Minister Taoiseach Micheál Martin on St. Patrick's Day when he shrugged off a question about whether sending soldiers into the country was fast becoming an inevitability.

"Iran is just a military operation to me. Iran is something that was essentially largely over in two or three days," Trump said....
