Trump found a new way to keep Republicans 'groveling' for his attention: analyst

Trump found a new way to keep Republicans 'groveling' for his attention: analyst

President Donald Trump could give Republicans millions for their midterm campaigns, but he's using it to keep them in line, an analyst said.

In a recent episode of "The David Pakman Show," progressive political commentator David Pakman said that Trump has raised $400 million in super PAC cash, but he's sharing almost none of it with Republicans ahead of midterms. The idea is to withhold it so the GOP seeks his approval, Pakman said.

"He wants to be the sun at the center of the solar system," Pakman said. "Trump has a super PAC sitting on $400 million. They've spent about $2 to $3 million helping Republican candidates for the midterms. That is a fraction of 1 percent of the money that Trump controls."...

Trump suffers major setback to 'unprecedented' election scheme

The Trump administration suffered a major setback in its attempt to block mail-in voting with a federal judge ruling against it.

On Tuesday, a federal judge blocked President Donald Trump's order forcing the U.S. Postal Service to reject certain ballots. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani from Massachusetts found the order unconstitutional because it came less than 90 days before the midterms and described the Trump order as an "unprecedented directive."

Talwani granted a preliminary injunction against the executive order, which would bar the USPS from transmitting ballots to voters whose names don't appear on state-submitted lists. She found that the administration never mounted a defense of the order itself....

Trump suffers 'brutal' 19th straight loss in voter roll crusade: report

The Trump administration suffered its 19th straight court loss in its crusade to seize state voter rolls, per a report.

An Illinois-based federal judge tossed a Department of Justice lawsuit that demanded the state's unredacted voter rolls. U.S. District Judge Colleen Lawless wrote in her opinion that amending the complaint would be "futile" and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it can't be revived in district court.

Democracy Docket noted in its reporting that the "brutal" loss came two days after another federal judge dismissed the DOJ's lawsuit seeking New Jersey voter rolls. ...

'Jaws hit the floor' when Trump ignored election threats he now obsesses over: ex-insider

A former White House insider revealed that President Donald Trump ignored a "serious" threat in 2018 to fixate on China.

During an interview on the Court of History podcast, Miles Taylor, the former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff, detailed Trump's dismissal of the threat. Taylor said that it happened during a 2018 intelligence briefing on the threat posed by Russia.

"You should have seen our jaws hit the floor in September of 2018, when we had briefed Trump on all the threats to our elections," Taylor said, describing a scene from the first Trump administration. "The only one he seemed to key in on is, 'Wait, the Chinese might not support me. I'm going to go call them out instead of calling out the other threat actors, ' we said, who might meddle."...

Trump touted vulnerable voting machines with a photo of a 1990s computer game: report

Documents that Trump said supported his election meddling claims relied on a photo of a computer game, per a new report.

On Thursday, Trump made a speech where he accused China of election interference, and he shared a document dump that he said would back up those claims.

According to an article by Talking Points Memo, the supposed evidence featured a "wild" anecdote about the 1990s computer shooter game "Doom."...

Trump swiftly fact-checked with the same documents he claims prove his election theory

Trump's claims about China interfering in U.S. elections were fact-checked by political analysts in real-time using documents he released.

In Trump's Thursday night speech, he announced that his administration would be releasing documents and intelligence findings that support his claim that China meddled in the 2020 U.S. elections. However, the documents didn't show anything of the sort, analysts noted.

During the speech, CNN senior national security reporter Zachary Cohen pointed out in a post on X that CNN had reviewed documents Trump was talking about in his speech....
