MAGA senator stokes confusion with rambling defense of 'weird' speech: 'Your wood is wet!'

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is defending his wild speech at the GOP midterm convention, in which he pulled at his clothes and shouted.

Scott yelled that Democrats want to "rip the heart out of our chests," threw his hands around, and made faces. As he warned about Democrats and a "battle for the heart of our nation," Scott pulled open his jacket and pounded his chest. He then pivoted to a shouted religious riff: "But Texas, we know who God is! We're talking about Jesus!"

He was mocked for the speech and his unusual behavior. Earlier this week, MS NOW host Joe Scarborough and his fellow panelists held hands and prayed for Scott after his "really weird" speech....

Trump's 'biggest mistake' spurs immediate panic among Republicans: report

In the wake of President Donald Trump's midterm convention, Republicans are sharing their honest thoughts about how it will impact upcoming elections — and they're not happy.

In a Saturday report, Politico collected feedback from Republicans, who didn't mind using profanity to describe their worry over what they saw as the "biggest mistake" Trump made at the two-night event.

"He said 'I am on the ballot,' which is going to f— us," said a GOP county chair in a region where House races are competitive because of Trump's unpopularity. "People will vote against congressmen and women to get back at Trump."...

JD Vance gave himself away with line he used to deny he's 'racist': CNN

Jake Tapper delivered a harsh response Friday to Vice President JD Vance's boast that Republicans are unfairly branded racist: the line itself, the CNN anchor said, sounded racist.

Vance, positioning himself as President Donald Trump's 2028 heir, used his keynote at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas to run through a list of grievances.

"And we were tired of being called racist for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer and less safe and less prosperous," Vance said....

‘Lost the plot’: Vance breaks from Trump’s ‘alternate reality’ with stark voter warning

Vice President JD Vance is delivering a far different midterm message than President Donald Trump by acknowledging dissatisfaction with the administration instead of insisting that everything is going well, according to a new CNN analysis.

It’s a far more realistic appeal to voters, CNN senior reporter Aaron Blake wrote Friday, and offers “a striking contrast to President Donald Trump’s all-is-great, we’re-in-the-Golden-Age approach.”

“But it’s a difficult sell — in large part because Trump has given voters so much to dislike,” Blake argued....

'Like we're criminals!' Epstein survivors in disbelief after getting boot from convention

'Like we're criminals!' Epstein survivors in disbelief after getting boot from convention

Charleen Richard, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse, said being escorted out of President Donald Trump's Dallas convention made her and the others "feel like criminals," even though they had done nothing but walk in with valid passes alongside a reporter asking about the Epstein files.

Richard and fellow survivor Marijke Chartouni were among three survivors who accompanied independent journalist Tara Palmeri into the Republican midterm convention on Thursday, only to be removed roughly 35 minutes after arriving.

"We were there for about 45 minutes before we were escorted out," Chartouni said in a recording posted to X. "We were separated."...

Trump launches into winding speech after telling GOP crowd he would be brief

President Donald Trump launched a long, ranting speech during the second night of the GOP midterm convention despite promises to keep it short.

Trump delivered a winding, nearly two-hour speech the night before and said that he planned to keep his speech the next night short. However, that wasn't the case.

Behind him, a woman in the audience in a black blazer and red shirt could be seen checking her watch as it became clear that Trump planned to go on....
