Morning Joe Scarborough and his fellow panelists on MS NOW held hands and prayed Thursday morning that Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) would get the help they decided he badly needs.
Rev. Al Sharpton initiated the prayer the morning after an eyebrow-raising speech at the GOP Convention in Dallas saw Scott scream at his audience that Democrats want to "rip that heart out of our chest."
"Whoa," replied Mika Brzezinski. Added Scarborough, "That was really weird."
The bemused panelists raised a number of sarcastic theories as to what might have inspired Scott's impassioned speech, among them that he needed anti-seizure medication or an intervention from God.
This prompted Rev. Al Sharpton to demand his fellow panelists create bow their heads, hold hands and conduct a prayer circle.
"We should all join hands and pray," Sharpton said. "He's out there — bring him back in, Lord."
Scott's need to "kiss the ring" when it came to President Donald Trump didn't explain for Sharpton the extent of his rhetoric, he said.
"The way he really went off the chain," Sharpton said, "You've got to really wonder about where he is in his head."
Scarborough gave a whistle.
"Overcompensation is too light a term," Sharpton said. "To play to Trump like that, you would only do that if you were in fear — facing, you know, a firing squad."
