'I'm shocked': CNN host stunned as Florida official makes admission about vaccine ban

CNN host Jake Tapper said he was "shocked" after Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo admitted he did not do any data analysis before banning vaccine mandates.

"I'm looking at this report from your department from April, showing that more people in Florida are seeking religious exemptions for vaccines," Tapper told Ladapo in a Sunday interview on CNN. "And at the same time, Florida is seeing rising cases of hepatitis A and whooping cough and chicken pox."

"This is in your own report, your own department's report," the host noted. "Before you made this decision to try to lift vaccine mandates for Florida, which include, obviously, public schools, did your department do any data analysis?"...

MIAMI — There's no big rush to get the new COVID-19 vaccine, according to health experts. U.S. approves updated COVID vaccines for fall

Washington (AFP) - The United States on Monday approved Covid vaccines with formulations that more closely target currently circulating variants, as infections are once more on the rise. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concluded that the benefits of receiving the shots outweighs the risk for those aged six months and up. "Vaccination remains critical to public health and continued protection against serious consequences of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death," ......

RFK Jr. links ‘vaccine research’ to HIV and Spanish Flu

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday suggested that vaccine research was responsible for the HIV and the Spanish flu, among other illnesses, Rolling Stone reports.

The conspiracy theorist and longshot presidential candidate made the remarks during a panel discussion live-streamed on Rumble, the video streaming platform known to be preferred by far-right extremists and conspiracy theorists.

Rolling Stone’s Nikki McCann Ramírez described the event as a “panel of health misinformation superstars” gathered for “a roundtable discussion that suggested his medical conspiracism will be a key component of his 2024 presidential run.”...

Pfizer launches mRNA flu vaccine trial

Washington (AFP) - US pharmaceutical company Pfizer said Monday it had begun a clinical trial to test an influenza vaccine designed with the same mRNA technology behind its successful Covid-19 shot. The idea is to improve on the current generation of flu vaccines that have an efficacy of 40-60 percent against a disease that can cause up to 650,000 deaths a year. "The Covid-19 pandemic allowed us to deliver on the immense scientific opportunity of mRNA," Kathrin Jansen, head of vaccine research at Pfizer, said in a statement. "Influenza remains an area where we see a need for vaccines which cou......

Los Angeles makes Covid vaccines compulsory for schoolkids

Los Angeles (AFP) - Children aged 12 or over who attend public schools in Los Angeles will have to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by the start of next year, city education chiefs said Thursday, the first such requirement by a major education board in the United States. The vote by the Los Angeles Unified School District -- the second biggest in the country -- comes as the United States grapples with surging coronavirus numbers, driven by the highly contagious Delta variant. It also came as US President Joe Biden set out tough new nationwide rules designed to stanch the flood of new infec......
