Dan Rather warns Trump bill threatens to 'disproportionately disenfranchise women'

Veteran journalist Dan Rather is warning that legislation that Trump is trying to push through threatens women's right to vote.

In a recent piece titled "The War on Women," Rather tried to lay out how the Trump administration is going after women's rights.

"Trump's campaign promise to protect women, 'whether the women like it or not,' has become more of a threat," Rather wrote. "His policies and executive orders undermine women's economic and reproductive freedoms while pushing them out of the workforce and into the home."...

Ex-prosecutor warns women's right to vote may be next on chopping block: 'Handmaid's Tale'

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance is sounding the alarm that the right of women to vote, long treated as untouchable, could erode along the country's current political path, after watching conservative women publicly declare they would happily surrender it.

In her Civil Discourse newsletter, Vance pointed to a recent Turning Point USA Women's Leadership Summit, the event now run by Charlie Kirk's widow following his death. There, right-wing influencer Samantha Stone said, "I would gladly give up my right to vote to have a more conservative country," according to Vance.

Stone was not alone. Vance pointed to a clip compiled by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in which other attendees voiced similar views. One young woman explained that as a Christian, she and her husband "are one flesh" and vote the same way, so she would be fine giving up her vote because "he would represent me well." Another said her daughter wouldn't need the vote because she would marry "a godly man."...

Trump just said the 'quiet part loud' with cruel remark: Ex-GOP strategist

Former Republican strategist Rick Wilson lays out who President Donald Trump really is after he pointed his finger at Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey on Air Force One and snapped at her saying "Quiet. Quiet, piggy."

Lucey asked Trump about what he knew about his late friend and convicted child sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein — and was doing her job — Wilson argues in his Substack essay Wednesday. In that moment, Trump revealed how he actually feels about women.

"As he’s grown older, meaner, and fatter, his cruelty has expanded to meet the decline," Wilson writes. ...

‘Massive margin’: Analyst says this key constituency is ‘repelled by’ Trump

An analyst says that a key constituency is "repelled by" President Donald Trump and MAGA, especially women under 30, who overwhelmingly backed Democrats in key races this month.

In a podcast interview with Sarah Longwell and The Atlantic's David Frum on The David Frum Show, Longwell describes how young women are repulsed by the Republican party and how three major elections — Zohran Mamdani's mayoral race in New York City, Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey's governor race and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia's governor election — all highlighted this.

"So those three races taken together, you have women under 30 where 81, 82 percent of them are voting for the Democratic candidate. That is a massive margin and really different from the gender breakdown, the gender split, for their older cohorts," Longwell explains. "So among men and women who are 65-plus, the gender divide is almost nonexistent. But as you get younger, the gender divide opens up into a chasm, and I think Democrats are feeling pretty good about the fact that they still overperformed with men relative to how they did in 2024, but with women, it’s just not even close. It’s like a total ownership by the Democratic Party of this young cohort of women."...

'Are people going to stay in?' Combat vet warns of 'ripple effects' of Hegseth's speech

A combat veteran had a sharp warning after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's comments about women in the military and suggested "ripple effects" would come after his big speech, asking, "Are people going to stay in?"

Major Kyleanne, a retired combat veteran and CEO of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, told CNN anchors Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez that using a "culture war" is "distracting from real military readiness." Hegseth's comments could also impact recruiting — a top priority.

"There's real concerns about recruiting, these big recruiting booms that we've seen are largely driven by women joining the military," she said. "But there's also a lot of concerns about retention. Are people going to stay in if that's what's going to happen? But also what it does to our veteran population."...

'Fatal mistake': Republicans said to have alienated 'one of the largest voting blocs'

Donald Trump and the GOP have alienated "one of the largest voting blocs" in the country by standing by Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance's allegedly sexist comments about women, according to former Obama campaign advisor Ameshia Cross.

Cross, who recently said she believes that "DEI" is just a "pseudonym" for racial slur, appeared on MSNBC on Saturday to discuss the latest attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to become the Democratic nominee in the upcoming general election.

The host said that "many attacks on Harris are focusing on race and gender and not bearing children, and asked, "Are these attacks backfiring and how do Democrats combat them while refusing to give them oxygen?"...
