Trump is golfing in Florida while being tried for inciting insurrection in DC: report

Former President Donald Trump chose to go golfing instead of watching the third day of his impeachment trial.

"Former President Donald Trump hit the golf course in Florida on Thursday, according to two sources, starting his 18 holes just before Democratic prosecutors began wrapping up their case against him in the Senate," the Washington Examiner reports. "After two days of watching events unfold on television at his Mar-a-Lago beach club residence as his defense team imploded and the prosecution set out a powerful case based on video footage and Trump's own comments, his small motorcade left for the golf club before Democrats resumed their case on Thursday."

"It follows multiple reports that Trump was horrified by the rambling defense set out by his team on Tuesday, the first day of his second impeachment trial. 'He was pissed,' said a former adviser," the newspaper reported.

If Trump had watched the proceedings, he would have seen Democrats argue that he is an ongoing threat of political violence.

"The House impeachment managers argued Thursday that Donald Trump's lack of remorse following the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol shows that the former president should be convicted and barred from holding federal office again," Politico reported Thursday. "As they neared the end of their formal arguments in the Senate's impeachment trial, the House Democrats prosecuting the case said the rioters who stormed Congress did so at Trump's direction and using his specific words, and that acquitting the former president would embolden him to do it again."
