'That was kind of a joke today': Trump busted by supporter for Thursday border wall stunt
Donald Trump's highly publicized visit to Arizona on Thursday, to tout the border wall his administration built, was called out as a fraud by one of his own supporters who has a ranch in the area.
In an interview with the Washington Post, rancher John Ladd, "a Trump supporter whose ranch extends along the border," explained the photo-op where the former president boasted about his accomplishments at stopping immigrants from crossing over into the U.S. was in front of a section of wall built under President Barack Obama's administration.
The former president has made the border crisis a central plank of his re-election bid, accusing President Joe Biden— and by extension Vice President Kamala Harris — of falling down on the job.

The only problem, the Post is reporting is that Trump's advance people placed him in front of a portion of wall he had nothing to do with.
As Ladd explained, "Where you were, that was kind of a joke today. Had to be in front of Trump’s wall, but you went to Montezuma, and that’s Obama’s wall.”
The Post report adds, "The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the barrier next to Thursday’s campaign stop was built during the Obama administration. The Trump campaign and [ Border Patrol union leader Paul] Perez did not respond to questions about the discrepancy."
The report adds that during the photo-op, "Perez called the standing fence 'Trump wall' and the idle parts 'Kamala wall.'"
"The reality on the ground was not as straightforward as the “Build the Wall” chant that electrified his campaign eight years ago suggested. His vow to finish the wall, now formalized in the Republican Party platform, highlights the uncomfortable fact that he did not finish it in his first term, and Mexico did not pay for it, as he once promised it would," the Post is reporting.
