'Big decision': Trump again begs for immunity hours before Supreme Court's answer rolls in

Donald Trump on Sunday gave a plea for the U.S. Supreme Court to gift him immunity for his alleged crimes.

The country's top court is expected on Monday to deliver the long-awaited answer to Trump's question about whether he can in fact be held accountable for any crimes whatsoever that occurred during his sole term as president. It's possible that the Supreme Court will "split the baby" by giving Trump limited immunity when actions are involving his official role as president, legal experts say.

Jack Smith has 'one more card to play' in D.C. election subversion case: former prosecutor

Jack Smith has had a tough time prosecuting Donald Trump, especially considering his D.C. election subversion prosecution has been frozen pending Supreme Court action, but a former prosecutor said on Sunday that the special counsel has one more trick up his sleeve.

Trump faces charges in that case related to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, as well as related efforts to allegedly undermine the presidential election in 2020 when Joe Biden beat the former president. With the case tied up, however, analysts have suggested that it won't reach trial before the election.

CNN host Dana Bash came under fire over the weekend after an interview in which Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went on an angry rant and stated he was looking forward to going after President Joe Biden and members of his administration if Donald Trump wins re-election in November.

Graham appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," where he ranted about Biden, accusing the president of being "compromised" as Bash sat there and failed to fact-check him in much the same manner as she also failed to fact-check Trump when she was co-moderator on the CNN-hosted debate on Thursday evening.

Jen Psaki pours cold water on proposal to switch to a brokered Democratic convention

Former Joe Biden White House press secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki cautioned her viewers that a brokered Democratic convention being proposed by some liberal commentators after Biden's terrible debate performance is easier to talk about than it is to pull off.

While Psaki didn't say it was impossible, she did state that it could end in disaster in multiple ways that some advocates seem to be unaware of.

"I'm not going to sit here and tell you what to think, but those of you out there who have hopes of Joe Biden stepping aside for a with a brokered convention, you should know all the factors there," she lectured. "First of all, it would have a seismic impact on the Democratic party if the president stayed neutral and didn't endorse his own vice president."

"It would mean also a couple of thousand party insiders would be empowered to make a choice on the nominee, not the millions of Democratic primary voters who already cast their ballots," she continued. "And it could mean positioning a talented, and there are many Democrats who are talented out there, but a largely untested candidate with potentially low name identification into the national spotlight as one person responsible for defeating Trump just over two months from an election."

"You may still prefer that option, but you should know the candidate spit out of that process and may not be your choice either," she added. "It will all be very messy and potentially very divisive. It still feels very unlikely. right now, Jill Biden is standing by the president — the most important person in his life. Barack Obama is standing by him."

"We can discuss and debate all day long whether that is the right thing, there are reasonable and thoughtful arguments on both sides of that question, and we will discuss them over the course of the show and over the next few weeks," she promised.
