'Hugely disruptive': GOP accused of recruiting partisan poll watchers in Dem-heavy areas

While the practice of recruiting poll watchers is legal, election integrity experts say the Republican Party's efforts to place partisan poll watchers in Democratic-heavy suburbs could potentially be seen as "voter intimidation."

NBC News reported Saturday that GOP-aligned groups are aiming to place poll watchers in precincts across multiple battleground states where Democratic turnout is expected to be high. And aside from potentially interfering with voters, these poll watchers could also disrupt election workers' efforts to conduct efficient oversight of the casting and counting of ballots.

MSNBC host buries Democrats over their 'big freakout' immediately after Biden stumble

On Saturday morning, MSNBC host Michael Steele hammered Democratic insiders for their knee-jerk response to President Joe Biden's poor debate performance, saying they need to calm down.

As co-host on MSNBC's "The Weekend," Steele cautioned Democrats and liberal commentators to settle down and think it through before making a full-fledged effort to force Biden to drop out of the race.

Reacting to the panic expressed after Biden stumbled his way through his debate with Donald Trump, former RNC head Steele told his co-hosts, "The big freak out Thursday night even stunned me. I mean, in politics it was so immediate to me, so fast."

"We were talking with former Lieutenant Governor [Mandela] Barnes about the fact that, you know, on the Republican side it's like 'We're good, our guy is a criminal, our guy is a sexual predator, we're good.' Democrats: 'Oh my god, he slurred a word!'"

"He did not just slur a word, it was a bad performance," co-host Symone Sanders-Townsend interjected.

"I will not take away from that, I got it, it was a bad performance, it did not meet anyone's expectations," Steele replied. "The thing that amazes me is just the immediate decision by so many in the party to just go: 'Okay, I'm done, I can't do this.'"

"Explain some of this, I don't understand," he continued. "On my side of the aisle, I would hunker down, get the press release out, close the doors, we are going to work it out and when we get outside, we will steamroll."

Former Trump White House aide singles out his 'insane responses' during Biden debate

As part of a Washington Post recounting of the many evasions Donald Trump used to avoid answering questions at Thursday night's debate with President Joe Biden, one former senior Trump White House aide expressed frustration with the aftermath where little to no attention is being paid to the former president's lies and "insane" comments.

As the Washington Post's Josh Dawsey wrote, "Much of the focus of Thursday’s debate focused on Biden’s confusing and meandering answers, and the ensuing panic his weak performance caused among Democratic officeholders, donors and operatives," before adding, "As for Trump, however, he repeatedly evaded topics he was not interested in speaking about, following the advice of advisers who encouraged him to move the conversation to friendlier ground such as immigration and the economy."

'Buy a island': MAGA melt down after Barbra Streisand tackles Supreme Court case

The Supreme Court issued a ruling on Friday overturning "Chevron deference" — a 40-year-old precedent that orders courts to defer to the expertise of agency employees when interpreting statute, which could make it easier for courts to strike down all manner of regulations across the entire federal government. Ironically, the original Chevron ruling was issued by conservative justices, to protect Ronald Reagan administration policymakers from being overruled by Jimmy Carter-appointed judges — but now with a far more Democratic-leaning administrative state, right-wing judges have been clamoring to take back power over the regulatory process for years.

The decision horrified many legal experts — and also renowned singer and actress Barbra Streisand, who took to X to condemn the ruling.
