According to the latest FEC filing from Donald Trump's Save America PAC, not only has it paid out $27 million to cover the former president's legal fees as it burns through cash, but it has also funneled more than $100K to Melania Trump's stylist since last July.

Ex-Trump official raises alarm about the return of 'fundamentally ignorant' ex-president

Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Thursday, one of Donald Trump's former national advisors warned that returning the former president to the Oval Office would be a grave mistake that would haunt the country — and the world — for years.

Speaking with co-host Mika Brzezinski, former Trump official John Bolton explained that he had no doubt the former president would try and gut NATO by withdrawing U.S. support because he doesn't understand geopolitics or the dangers such a move would create at all.

After watching a clip of Trump disparaging NATO, Bolton told the MSNBC host, "I think Trump actually says what comes to mind. As a very astute person once said to me, he doesn't have a filter between his brain and his mouth."

"So when he, for example, threatens to get out of NATO, as he did during his first term and has done since then, I think people better believe it, and I think that would be a catastrophic mistake for American national security and the security of the west as a whole" he added.

"In the clip you just ran, he said several things that are simply incorrect," he asserted. "And it reveals an important trait about Trump on national security issues and many others: he is fundamentally ignorant. He really doesn't care about the facts. He thinks international relations are about personal relations, which is a line and approach that I can tell you, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are eagerly looking forward to."

'He's losing it': Morning Joe analysts point to startling new signs of Trump's decline

As part of a panel discussion on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," one political analyst pointed out that Donald Trump is taking on damage now that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) is making her case that he is growing "senile," while another added there does seem to be evidence "he is losing it."

Reflecting on Haley ramping up her much more personal attacks on the former president, analyst Elise Jordan told co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, "She has been able to make headway with that message. That, no, Donald Trump is not just crazy, he actually is senile too."

"She's been making headway with that message, and she's gotten in some pretty good hits," she added. "Over the past — you know, since New Hampshire happened — what good hits has Donald Trump gotten in on Nikki Haley? He hasn't been able to attack her effectively. He hasn't been able to define her in the way he was with Ron DeSantis."

That led co-host Scarborough to contribute, "He's in a position he's not usually in where he is not striking back as aggressively. He's got two women that have just, let's face it, they pounded him in the pocketbook, pounded him politically. So he's keeping his mouth shut on E. Jean Carroll who just won $83 million from him. Really, for the most part, not going after Nikki Haley as aggressively as he would want to because he's got his campaign people going, 'Please, please, the less you say, like the easier our job is, Donald. Just keep your mouth shut.'"

"I think that it is certainly that," replied MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton. "But I also think that it goes with the fact that he's losing it. Because let's not forget, he ran against a woman in '16 named Hillary Clinton, and he had no problem. He's losing it."

"I mean, you've known him for a long time. So when you say he's losing it, like, you know it," Scarborough interjected.

"He's losing it. His instinct is to fight back, punch back, and he would think, back in those days, that he was thinking clearer, if you want to ever call what he thought was clear," Sharpton continued. "But he'd fight back and say, 'They hit me. I can hit back.'"

"It reminded me, I was blessed in my younger days to know Muhammad Ali. Ali told me one day toward the end of his career, 'I saw the openings, and I just couldn't get the punch there. I couldn't,' he said, 'I knew where to go, Sharpton, but I couldn't get the punch there,'" he continued before adding, "The openings are there for Trump. He can't get there, his mind is not there anymore. They need to take him out of the ring before he gets knocked out."

Trump is burning through cash faster than he can raise it: report

According to campaign finance reports filed on the last day of January, Donald Trump and the PACs closely associated with him are burning through cash faster than they can rake it in putting his ability to run for re-election effectively at risk.

At the top of the list factors sucking up money? His mounting legal bills.

According to a report from Politico's Steven Shepard and Jessica Piper, in 2023 Trump and his people spent more than they raised driven "in part due to his legal woes."

The report notes that two of the entities tied to the former president spent $50 million to pay lawyers— an amount that surpassed "advertising, payroll or other typical campaign expenditures."

Shepard and Piper note that MAGA Inc. had to kick back tens of millions to Trump's leadership PAC to help with bills and that the bleeding has yet to stop.

"Trump still has plenty of cash in the bank and the ability to raise more of it. But the legal spending highlights a real challenge for the former president entering the election year: he is diverting an increasing share of his resources from the campaign to address his legal woes. And that is likely to keep being costly," Politico is reporting.
