Trump just gave Disney a pathway to revive Jimmy Kimmel: media expert

Deadline executive editor Dominic Patten said that one of the big reasons that Disney/ABC caved into demands over late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was due to comments by President Donald Trump at the memorial service for right-wing activist Charlie Kirk on Sunday.

Patten told MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace that Disney was looking for a way to backtrack "almost immediately" after it suspended Kimmel because the backlash was so significant. It has only expanded over the weekend, with more than 400 artists joining the movement and some already canceling projects with Disney.

The White House is celebrating a legal winning streak with a series of high-profile victories at the U.S. Supreme Court, employing a strategy of case selection targeting the high court's conservative majority, according to reports on Monday.

The president has faced his own string of lawsuits in the wake of his aggressive strategy and use of executive power, yet the high court has granted wins 18 wins for the administration since Trump took office, NBC News reports. 'Picking the wrong fight': Nate Silver urges Democrats to make a different shutdown demand

A government shutdown looks increasingly likely, as Republicans don't have the votes to pass their continuing resolution and Democrats have seized the moment to demand the GOP extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, preventing people from losing access to health care.

But they are "picking the wrong fight," argued longtime pollster and statistician Nate Silver, who stated in a New York Times column that there's a better issue Democrats should be using as their shutdown ultimatum.

Data expert gives Disney startling lesson on the effect of bowing to Trump

A veteran data journalist is offering a lesson to those in positions of power about why they keep losing when they bow to President Donald Trump.

Writing on Monday, G. Elliott Morris explained on his "Strength in Numbers" Substack that powerful people mistakenly assume Trump holds more control over the country than he actually does. When Disney/ABC capitulated to Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr and conservative affiliate owners Sinclair and Nexstar, they effectively shot themselves in the foot, he said.

'Trump didn’t know': Analyst claims president likely blindsided by Pentagon bombshell

Media correspondent and analyst Brian Stelter argued that President Donald Trump was most likely unaware of a new controversial policy announced by his own Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after the president uttered contradictory remarks on Sunday.

On Friday, the Pentagon announced that journalists would be required to sign a pledge not to obtain or report on any information not officially disseminated by the Pentagon, lest they lose their credentials. On Sunday, however, when asked whether he thought the Pentagon should be able to decide “what reporters can report on,” Trump said “no, I don’t think so.”
