Around a year after her work on the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Donald Trump supporters are renewing attacks on former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney as a "traitor," Newsweek reported.

While Cheney, who represented Wyoming as a Republican, has always been a target of vitriol from MAGA since she took her seat as vice chair of the Jan. 6 committee and became an outspoken critic of Trump, the heat has picked up since House Speaker Mike Johnson announced Friday that he was releasing thousands of hours of footage from the riot — footage that he and others say proves that Capitol Police allowed protesters to enter the building and walk freely throughout its halls.

Conservative podcaster Steve Bannon on Monday called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to create a new Jan. 6 Committee, which he predicted would prove the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.
