'Tragic': Conservative Rick Wilson pinpoints new Trump move as 'end stage of the GOP'
Conservative political strategist Rick Wilson tore into President Donald Trump and his administration Wednesday, decrying them of having become “the party of cucks” and the “lapdogs” of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a development, he argued, that spelled the “end stage of the GOP.”
“The party of (former President Ronald) Reagan once demanded the Soviets tear down the wall; the party of Trump begs Putin to build more cages and lock them in together,” Wilson wrote in a blistering column published Wednesday in his Substack.
“They think humiliation is power, that submission is strategy, that debasement is destiny. This would all be hilarious if it weren’t tragic. The party of cucks doesn’t just debase itself; it debases America. America is weak, leaderless, and led by men who would rather be collared than courageous.”
Wilson has long been a vocal critic of Trump, denouncing the president and his supporters during the 2016 presidential election as consisting of “neo-Nazis” and “frog meme idiots.”
And while he has remained among the most active anti-Trump conservative critics in the years since, recent developments in the Trump administration, he argued, have reached a new threshold, one that he likened to a form of ‘cuckoldery.’
“This week’s humiliation tour featured Trump debasing himself before Vladimir Putin, Elon Musk debasing himself before (ew) J.D. Vance, and Dan Bongino debasing himself before both Trump and the lingering ghost of Jeffrey Epstein,” Wilson wrote.
“And that’s just the top of the parade float. Behind them, the MAGA influencer class waves its tiny red hats like bachelor-party (performers) desperate for Destynee Rainbowe’s attention. Donald J. Trump thinks he’s a strongman. That illusion should have been shattered as American troops knelt before Vladimir Putin, rolling out a red carpet for a war criminal at Trump orders.”
Trump has faced criticism for his meeting with Putin last week in Alaska, with some critics, such as former CIA Director John Brennan, arguing Trump “gave in” to the Russian leader by backing off demands for an immediate ceasefire in the Russo-Ukraine War.
“Trump is the world’s most public cuckold, a man whose second turn at the Presidency is one long exercise in kneeling before stronger men, in beta behavior at scale, in more intensity in decorating the White House than in protecting America’s interests,” Wilson wrote.
