On Wednesday night, there were two rounds of GOP presidential debates. First, candidates polling at around one percent nationally had a shorter debate, followed by the frontrunners in a second debate. Both debates took place in an alternate reality, where facts are made up on the spot and history doesn't matter.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not known for his nuance, but his disregard for historical facts themselves took a new turn today as he claimed, in a speech in Israel, that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler actually did not want to exterminate Jews until a Palestinian religious leader convinced him otherwise.

“I'm a progressive, but I'm a progressive who likes to get things done,” Hillary Clinton said at the first Democratic debate, in response to a question from moderator Anderson Cooper about whether she defines herself as a moderate or a progressive.

When Bernie Sanders announced he would be running for president late in the spring of 2015, many observers didn't take him seriously, making analogies to failed perennial candidates like Ron Paul, who had a fervent base but did not get traction in the election. The problem with these early predictions is that it quickly became clear they were underestimating the Vermont senator's campaign.

Bernie Sanders doesn't do negative campaigning. In his decades of public service, he has never run an attack ad.
