Knives out as scandal-scarred Republicans pile into one Florida race: 'You went to prison'

Despite a colorful slate of contenders that includes candidates who have served federal prison sentences, previously left Congress under clouds of scandal, or tried and failed to run for Congress elsewhere, the contest to replace Rep. Byron Donalds in Florida’s 19th Congressional District has so far remained relatively quiet.

The potent combination of wealth and conservatism makes southwest Florida an attractive spawning ground for Republican candidates aspiring to national, or at least statewide, prominence.

Republicans in 'messy' war with each other over gay marriage again

A decade after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, the issue is splitting the Republican Party in public.

The latest flashpoint came when Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) posted that "homosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month," referencing a Tennessee resolution signed by Gov. Bill Lee that defines a family as one husband and one wife. The backlash came largely from his own side. Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) called it "an absolutely idiotic statement," and former Rep. George Santos, who is openly gay, said he was "saddened by this insane comment." Ogles deleted the post, blamed a member of his communications team, and called it "stupid" and "hurtful," writing that the employee had been reprimanded.

'Watch out for angry moms': MAHA leaders threaten Trump over cancer betrayal

The Make America Healthy Again movement that helped sweep Donald Trump back into the White House is fracturing over his betrayal on pesticides — and MAHA activists are now threatening to stay away from Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.

According to a report from MS NOW's Arielle Hixson, the Trump administration's decision to back Monsanto in the Supreme Court's Roundup pesticide liability case is turning into a pivot point for the administration. The company is fighting to shield itself from state lawsuits claiming the herbicide should have carried cancer warnings. By supporting Monsanto's legal team, Trump signaled whose side he's on—and it's not the health-conscious base that carried him to victory.

'Snake pit': Carville says Trump's White House days numbered as admin 'leaks like a sieve'

Trump's deep unpopularity the only certainty in 'wildly uncertain' landscape: report

American politics is undergoing a structural realignment that has scrambled the usual left-right predictive tools, leaving President Donald Trump's unpopularity as perhaps the only fixed point in an otherwise volatile landscape.

Trump's disapproval has settled at roughly 60 percent, a remarkably stable number amid chaos everywhere else in the political system, but that stability isn't translating into a clear advantage for Democrats, because the old partisan map is becoming a worse predictor of behavior than a newer populist-versus-establishment divide cutting through both parties, reported Axios.

Secret deals silenced Epstein's accusers — but Congress may have a way around them

Seeking to break up the logjam created by the Department of Justice, which continues to drag its feet on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files, members of the House Oversight Committee have discussed issuing subpoenas to people who could testify about secret settlements between some of Jeffrey Epstein’s friends and his accusers.

According to Business Insider reporting, relayed by Politico, some of Epstein's accusers signed prelitigation settlements with friends of the sex offender whom they also accused of sexual misconduct. Those settlements come with "iron-clad NDAs" prohibiting victims from speaking publicly about their experiences—a systematic silencing campaign that has kept the full scope of abuse hidden.
