Bolivia prosecutor seeks Morales arrest over 'trafficking' of minor

An arrest warrant has been issued for Bolivian ex-president Evo Morales with calls for an initial detention period of six months on suspicion of "trafficking" a 15-year-old girl while in office, authorities said Monday.

"The exceptional measure of preventive imprisonment for six months in a public jail is being requested," the country's attorney general Roger Mariaca said late Monday.

Major quake crushes buildings in Vanuatu capital, bodies seen

A powerful earthquake hit the Pacific nation of Vanuatu on Tuesday, smashing buildings in the capital Port Vila including one used by foreign embassies, with a witness telling AFP of bodies lying in the city.

The 7.3-magnitude quake struck at a depth of 57 kilometers (35 miles), some 30 kilometers off the coast of Efate, Vanuatu's main island, at 12:47 pm (0147 GMT), according to the US Geological Survey.
