Jon Stewart took a shot a Raw Story and several other websites for hyperbolic headlines Thursday. The Daily Show featured our story titled "Stewart destroys Hannity for a second night this week" as an example of how blogs sex up their stories to get clicks.
Stewart appeared as a guest on Bill O'Reilly's Fox News show Wednesday and Thursday nights but the Comedy Central host didn't understand how that was possible since The Huffington Post had already declared that he had "destroyed" the Fox News Channel just a few weeks before.
Jon Stewart had taken a shot at the conservative news network's fawning coverage of then-candidate Scott Brown after his win in the Massachusetts Senate race. "Jon Stewart Destroys Fox News For Reveling In Scott Brown Win" was the headline at The Huffington Post.
"Boom! How did Fox survive that?" Stewart asked.
But HuffPo isn't the only site that has a habit of sexing up headlines about the Comedy Central host, Stewart said. Featuring screen shots of State of the Day, Raw Story, Crooks and Liars, Capitol Hill Blue, and Mediaite, Stewart noted, "Just these past few weeks, I have disemboweled, I have mauled, I have hammered, I have destroyed, I have slammed, and I slapped" various cable news shows.
"If you just follow this show on the blog, you would think I was running around town cutting people open from scrot [sic] to sternum wearing their skin as a trophy which I only did once with Jimmy Carter," joked Stewart.
