New polling data from the Pew Research Center shows that President Barack Obama's disapproval rating has reached a record high of 49 percent, up 7 percent since Feb.

The Republican Party, meanwhile, is doing even worse: data shows their disapproval rating up to 59 percent, an increase of 11 percent since Pew's last poll.

Overall, 79 percent of poll respondents said they are dissatisfied with the state of the nation, and 86 percent said they were angry with the government. Just 11 percent said they were "basically content."

The Democratic Party remains the most popular national political group, but their fortunes have sunk as well, going from 46 percent unfavorable to 50 percent unfavorable between Feb. and August.
