In response to the NATO airstrike killing 24 Pakistani soldiers, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) struck a tone of sympathy on Fox News Sunday, wondering how the reaction would be if it were U.S. forces killed by a foreign drone on home soil.
“I’m deeply saddened that 24 or 25 Pakistani soldiers were killed by NATO drones, and I think we have expressed those condolences,” Durbin said. “Imagine how we would feel if there it had been 24 American soldiers killed by Pakistani forces at this moment.”
Durbin went on to mentioned how U.S. soldiers are caught in the middle of the complex situations in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and how he would like to see troops come home from the decade long war.
