Fox News anchor takes heat for tweeting Obama birther conspiracy

Published

on

The liberal watchdog Media Matters on Tuesday pounced on a tweet sent by Fox News anchor Heather Childers, which linked to an article that claimed Obama’s 2008 campaign staff had threatened to kill Chelsea Clinton.

“Thoughts? Did Obama Campaign Threaten Chelsea Clinton’s Life 2 Keep Parents Silent?” Childers asked on Twitter, linking to the article in question.

The article accused the Obama campaign of coordinating a “reign of terror and intimidation” in 2008 to prevent information about his eligibility to be president from being revealed. Part of that “reign of terror” included threatening to kill Chelsea Clinton if her parents, Bill and Hillary Clinton, disclosed information that could prove Obama was ineligible.

Many of the so-called “birthers” believe there is persuasive evidence that Obama was born in Kenya in 1961 and that his birth certificate was faked in order to make him eligible for the president.

Childers has since defended tweeting the article to her more than 3,000 followers, claiming she only wanted to hear others’ opinion about the story.

“Here’s the thing folks… that ONE topic sure got alot [sic] of you tweeting. Why? I apologize if the article offended anyone. Very interesting,” she tweeted.

The Rev. Al Sharpton called out President Donald Trump for groveling for Joe Scarborough's approval for years, only to turn around and baselessly accuse him of murder.

The president claimed he'd always been haunted by the possibility that the "Morning Joe" had been involved in the 2001 death of former congressional staffer Lori Klausutis, but Sharpton dismissed that as nonsense.

....about whether or not Joe could have done such a horrible thing? Maybe or maybe not, but I find Joe to be a total Nut Job, and I knew him well, far better than most. So many unanswered & obvious questions, but I won’t bring them up now! Law enforcement eventually will?

Raymond Dye had a buildup of blood behind his left eye that prevented him from seeing. David Polk had an abnormal heartbeat, and his wife had high cholesterol. Roger Wriston’s wife had a bad back.

All the men had worked for a collection of coal companies owned by Gov. Jim Justice and his family, which had pledged to provide health insurance after the miners retired. Last year, though, the retirees learned that those firms had stopped paying their premiums. And as a result, their coverage had been terminated. Polk skipped doctor appointments.

‘Recipe for disaster’: NC doctor slams Trump’s hopes for a packed GOP convention as ‘an incredibly bad idea’

A North Carolina strongly cautioned his state's governor from caving in to President Donald Trump's wishes for a packed Republican National Convention.

The president has threatened to move the RNC this summer from Charlotte if Gov. Roy Cooper did not ease coronavirus restrictions to allow for a full-scale event, but a local physician told WCNC-TV that Trump's plan was unreasonable.

"What do we know about infections?" said Dr. Jeffrey Galvin, of the Vitality Medical Wellness group. "Infection requires two things, exposure plus time."

Trump wants to pack 20,000 Republicans, journalists and others into Spectrum Center in August, but Galvin said infected people shed small amounts of the virus every time they breathe.
