Fox News contributor Erick Erickson on Tuesday mocked Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis by calling her "Abortion Barbie" after a Weekly Standard writer expressed unhappiness with her answer to a question the Kermit Gosnell case in Philadelphia.

In a Tuesday blog post, The Weekly Standard's John McCormack said that he had asked Davis to explain the difference between an abortion after 23 weeks of pregnancy and killing a baby born after 23 weeks, which Dr. Gosnell was accused of.

Davis had become the target of conservatives after her 11-hour filibuster temporarily derailed attempts to curb reproductive rights for women in Texas.

"After (implausibly) claiming not to know basic facts about the Gosnell murders, Davis then said she did know one particular detail: 'I do know that it happened in an ambulatory surgical center. And in Texas changing our clinics to that standard obviously isn't going to make a difference,'" McCormack wrote.

He asserted that two patients who died at the Gosnell clinic might be alive if it had been regulated as an ambulatory surgical facility.

Erickson tweeted out a link to McCormack's column, and then about an hour later he added: "It is a bit embarrassing that Abortion Barbie doesn't even have her facts straight on Kermit Gosnell considering abortion is her issue."

The Huffington Post's Elise Foley offered a snarky explanation for Erickson's tweet: "Get it, because she's blonde and women are dumb like dolls."

According to Media Matters, the Fox News contributor has a history of making sexist remarks.

After the Texas Senate passed legislation restricting abortion rights in July, Erickson tweeted that liberals should immediately bookmark a coat hanger sales website.

And earlier this year, Fox News host Megyn Kelly blasted Erickson on live television after he said that it was "anti-science" to reject the notion that men should dominate women.

"What makes you dominant and me submissive, and who died and made you scientist in chief?" the Fox News host asked him.
