Some sex offenders would be barred from accessing pornography under a pair of bills filed by Florida lawmakers.

The measures would modify an existing law barring sex offenders from viewing the type of pornography relating to their offense.

The new laws would prohibit sex offenders on probation from possessing any obscene, pornographic or sexually stimulating material, including auditory and visual content.

The legislation was filed by state Sen. Kelli Stargel (R-Lakeland) and Rep. Katie Edwards (D-Plantation).

If passed the law would take effect July 14, 2014.
