A Kentucky county clerk has defied the Supreme Court and multiple other court orders to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
On Tuesday, a federal judge ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis and her staff to appear Thursday morning for a contempt hearing to explain why they have continued to defy the law of the land.
It didn’t take long for Twitter to react, some with hilarious take-downs and others with over-the-top apocalyptic talk.
Honestly, I feel sorry for Kim Davis. Imagine your greatest accomplishment in life involving stealing joy from people. Just makes me sad.

Kentucky clerk Kim Davis denied marriage licenses to gays “under authority of God, Who speaks only to me in English with a Southern accent.” — Top Conservative Cat (@TeaPartyCat) September 1, 2015

Unsurprisingly, there was some conservative support for Davis with apocalyptic-sounding over-the-top rhetoric.
I support Kim Davis like I would support a clerk who wouldn’t sign a form allowing a box car into Auschwitz, “law” or not. — Bryan Fischer (@BryanJFischer) September 1, 2015
