CNN analyst and police advocate Harry J. Houck cast aspersions on Lavish Reynolds’ state of mind during a discussion on Wednesday with host Erin Burnett.
“She’s so distraught she was able to videotape the whole thing,” Houck said sarcastically of her recording of the shooting death of Philando Castile last week.
“We live in a Facebook world,” said Houck’s fellow panelist, former defense attorney Paul Martin.
“I’m just saying, she had the forethought to go and videotape everything and make this whole comment about what’s going on,” Houck insisted. “I’m not saying what this police officer did was right, or what he did was wrong. We still need to know the facts in case.”
Reynolds captured the moments immediately following Reynolds’ shooting death at the hands of Roseville, Minnesota police officer Jeronimo Yanez in nearby Falcon Hills.
Martin pointed out that, prior to the encounter with Yanez, Castile had been pulled more more than 50 times.
“Doesn’t that sound somewhat unusual?” he asked Burnett. “Here we are, also, in a state where he’s allowed to carry a weapon. He has a permit. You’re assuming what the officer said is accurate.”
