CNN stands by producer caught on tape saying Trump ‘probably right’ about Russia ‘witch hunt’ -- here's why

CNN has responded to an undercover video shot by the organization run by right-wing provocateur James O'Keefe -- and it says it has nothing to be ashamed of.

The video, which was released by Project Veritas on Tuesday, shows CNN Producer John Bonifield seemingly agreeing with someone that much of CNN's coverage of the Trump-Russia scandal is "bullsh*t." Bonifield also said that President Donald Trump was "probably right" that the scandal was a "witch hunt."

"CNN stands by our medical producer John Bonifield," CNN said in response to the video. "Diversity of personal opinion is what makes CNN strong, we welcome it and embrace it."

The network also noted that Bonifield is CNN's medical producer, and he does not work in political journalism and has no input on the network's Russia coverage.
