Jailed anti-vax mom ‘devastated’ when she learned her son has been vaccinated
Rebecca Bredow, the Michigan anti-vax mother who was jailed because she refused to let her son receive vaccinations, was not happy to learn that her son received four immunizations this week.
USA Today reports that the 40-year-old Bredow, who had to serve five days in prison for refusing a court order to make sure her 9-year-old son got his vaccinations, had to fight back tears when discussing her experience after being released from jail.
“It was the worst five days of my life, except for the fact that I just found out that he was vaccinated and I’m not going to get him back today,” Bredow said. “It’s been a rough few days to say the least.”
“She’s devastated,” Bredow’s attorney, Steven Vitale, said.
Bredow is in the middle of a custody battle over her son with James Horne, the boy’s father. While Bredow was in jail, Horne took his son to the doctor to get vaccinated.
The specific reason that Bredow was in contempt of court is that she had consented to have her son vaccinated in court pleadings late last year, although Vitale says that those pleadings were filed “in error,” according to USA Today.
