President Donald Trump's contempt for 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney is legendary, but a new Washington Post report reveals a level new level of contempt for the former Massachusetts governor.

"Before Ronna Romney McDaniel took over as Republican National Committee chairwoman earlier this year, President Trump had a request: Would she be willing to stop using her middle name publicly?" The Post reported.

McDaniel is Mitt Romney's niece and is the granddaughter of former Governor George Romney.

"Though she had used her maiden name for years in Michigan, where her grandfather had been governor, McDaniel dropped 'Romney' from most official party communications and has rarely used it since.

The president's continued support for Roy Moore is a major point of disagreement between the consecutive GOP standard-bearers.

The RNC and White House declined to comment on conversations between Trump and McDaniel as to the use of her maiden name.
