CNN irked viewers on Tuesday by airing a lengthy interview with a father and son who recently golfed with President Trump over his holiday vacation.
“What is it like to hit the links with the President?” CNN host John Berman wondered during his introduction of PGA golfers Fred and Taylor Funk. “What does one talk about when golfing with President Trump.”
Fred Funk explained that the president spent most of the game talking about golf.
And Taylor Funk praised Trump’s golf game, noting that “it was good, he shot a legit 36 on the front nine.” But he said that Trump struggled with the final nine holes.
“You are at a risk for an audit for saying that,” Berman joked, prompting laughter from co-host Alisyn Camerota.
“He’s definitely a lot better than I thought he was going to be,” Taylor Funk added. “He’s a good player, he’s fun to play with.”
While Berman and Camerota seemed to enjoy the interview, viewers sounding off on Twitter panned the interview as a waste of time or worse.

Are you serious @CNN about this golf interview with these PGA players concerning Donald Trump golf game
— Nan Hams (@nanpep2u6) January 2, 2018
So Taylor Funk On @CNN just confirmed Trump does not work while on the golf course. Thanks for confirming what we already knew.

#CNN Two Trump minions talking about Trump & how good he plays golf. Sounds like they could have written Trump's doctors note. Looks like Trump hands out verbage for these clowns to use.
— CrazyTVmom (@AllieEG) January 2, 2018
Okay @CNN there has to be more you can discuss other than a rich father and son's playing golf with #Dooflebutt. America is disintegrating & you're concerned about "club members" and their opinion of #Dooflebutt rather than an average, #EverydayAmerican's views. Hmmm

Pro golfer Taylor Funk tells CNN that when Trump golfs, he's all about the golf. Didn't take official phone calls during their game.

While CNN talks to the lucky dudes to golf with Trump he is spouting off on Twitter about the Deep State Justice Department and how we should arrest Huma Abedin and Comey.
— Jeremy Newberger (@jeremynewberger) January 2, 2018
Really, CNN? What's it like to golf with Trump? No news day is that slow.
— Erin DeCaprio (@ErinDeCaprio) January 2, 2018
Really @CNN Really you think having folks on to talk about golf is what's up?
— ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Patrece (@havewhatusay) January 2, 2018
This interview on CNN with the people who played golf with 45 is the dumbest thing I've ever witnessed on the news… glad you had a great time playing golf while people are worried about being deported, assholes.

Golfer on @newday promoting Trump’s golf course and said Trump talked about his courses/businesses. Not divested and never will. No other president would be able to get away with this.

#FatherandSonPGAGolfers are impressed with #Dooflebutt's bragging about his golf courses. Does that really make anyone feel safer in America considering the state of affairs with Iran and NK? Seriously @CNN New Day–where are your priorities? Promoting the rich & famous?
— Mary Hall-Rayford (@educatormary) January 2, 2018
.@CNN @NewDay Alternate title for fawning, giggly @fredfunk "what's it like to golf with the president" block: "What's it like to be with the laziest president ever while he violates Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution (the emoluments clause)"?
— Glic (@Glic) January 2, 2018
Great. Fred Funk is on CNN doing an all out infomercial on Trump golf courses.⛳
How low can they go?

You have to enjoy CNN's demise. When they devote their air time to Ivanka's clothes & the President's golf & the White Box truck! Now
their latest Russia Russia Russia bombshell about Papadopolous turned out to be a smoke bomb! It's all falling apart around them

Ok CNN, if you're going to emphasize accuracy in the news, I think you should also cut out the fluff. The Funk fam golfing just seemed like more praise for our Supreme Leader. #GolferInChief #CNN #HappyNewYear
