Fox News personality Jesse Watters on Friday described the spending bill as a “huge defeat for the president,” noting Donald Trump did not secure funding for his border wall and will never “change the dynamic in Congress” to get the money he needs.”

“Mexico’s not going to pay for the wall and neither are we,” Watters said on “The Five,” explaining despite the president’s bluster on the wall “the only fencing that’s going to be done is backup fencing and repairs.”

“This was a huge defeat for the president on his signature issue,” Watters said. “It’s really, really bad—there’s no way to spin it.”

Watters said while Trump secured spending for the military, “he sacrificed everything else” to get it.

“The border is a mess,” Watters said, lamenting the fact that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) won funds for the Gateway tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey.

“It’s really insulting, and [Trump] says it’s never going to happen again,” Watters said. “I don’t see how he’s going to change the dynamic in Congress to have this never happen again.”
