Donald Trump on Thursday vied for “credit” ahead of a surprise announcement about North Korea.
Trump made a surprise appearance in the press briefing room Thursday afternoon (a first for this president) to tell reporters South Korea intends to make an announcement at 7 p.m. EST.

ABC News’ John Karl ran into Trump and Vice President Mike Pence outside of the briefing room, where he asked if South Korea will make an announcement related to its ongoing nuclear proliferation talks with North Korea.
“It’s almost beyond that,” Trump told Karl. “Hopefully, you will give me credit.”
I ran into the President (and VP) in colonnade. I asked him if the South Korea announcement is about negotiations. "It's almost beyond that," he told me. "Hopefully, you will give me credit."
