President Donald Trump is considering installing Energy Secretary Rick Perry as the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs, following an expected firing of current Secretary David Shulkin, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

Perry, the former Republican Governor of Texas, was a member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University and spent five years in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation.

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins reports that the cabinet shakeup was discussed by Trump and Perry at lunch yesterday.
