Over the weekend, President Trump tweeted that in an attempt to create a special counsel, James Comey leaked the private memos.

In an interview with CNN's Jim Sciutto, lawyer Jeffrey Toobin, said that Trump is giving a "misleading picture of the events that unfolded." Toobin said the leaked memos did not spark the special counsel, but Trump's firing of James Comey lead to the appointment of the special counsel.

He also said that Comey is in a vulnerable position for leaking the memos whether classified or not. President Trump also alluded to a pardon of Michael Cohen in another Tweet.

When asked about the intention of this tweet, Toobin said it's always the biggest challenge to determine someones intention-- especially Trump's.

"It all depends on how suspicious one's mind is, and there are plenty of reasons to be suspicious."
