A CNN graphic on Thursday pointed out that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) had spent "years" investigating Benghazi before he demanded that special counsel Robert Mueller abruptly conclude the probe into Russia's interference in the U.S. elections.

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, Gowdy exploded at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing Mueller's Russia investigation.

"We’re over a year into special counsel," Gowdy complained. "You have a criminal investigation that’s become political. You have more bias than I have ever seen manifest in a law enforcement officer in the 20 years I used to do it for a living."

"There’s a presumption of guilt, there’s a desire by Democrat senators to fundraise off your investigation," he continued. "More than 60 Democrats have already voted to proceed with impeachment before Bob Mueller has found a single, solitary, damn thing. More than 60 have voted to move forward with impeachment, and he hasn’t presented his first finding!”

"Whatever you got, finish it the hell up because this country is being torn apart," Gowdy concluded.

CNN later pointed out that Gowdy himself had spent "years" investigating former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her alleged responsibility for the terrorist attack in Benghazi. That investigation reportedly cost more than $7 million.

"GOP's Gowdy, who spent years on Benghazi investigation, tells special counsel Mueller to 'finish it the hell up'," the chyron read.
