CNN's Chris Cuomo loses it with Rick Santorum after he claims 'the left' is 'overreacting' to Trump-Putin disaster

CNN's Chris Cuomo hammered former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) over his weak defense of President Donald Trump's summit with Vladimir Putin on Monday.

While Santorum did not agree with President Trump siding with Putin, he tried to blame the left for always overreacting.

"This is the damn truth. This is not an opinion point. It's not about whether Trump colluded or anybody in his campaign staff was involved in Russian efforts. It's whether it happened at all," Cuomo said.

Santorum then tried to say that former President Barack Obama's administration was worst. "I think president Obama betrayed this country more with his deal with Iran. I think there's a lot worse policy out of the last administration than this," he said.

At this point, Cuomo grilled him.

"It's not about policy. Don't surrender your higher ground, Rick. Don't do that to yourself," Cuomo said. "It's one thing to battle policy and say the Iran deal is a bad deal. It's fine. Vladimir Putin doesn't agree with you and the president says he's basically always right, but let's put that to the side. To say that President Obama ever betrayed the country the way we saw today, you know, has an absence of facts supporting it."
