"Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough found himself appalled at polls showing how much Republican voters trust President Donald Trump to give them accurate information.
A recent CBS poll found that the percentage of strong Trump supporters who trust the president to give accurate information is greater than the percentage of strong Trump supporters who trust their own family members to do the same.
Scarborough said that the trust in Trump was particularly galling because all of his lies were so blatant and easy to disprove.
"Why don't my friends and family just turn on the Google machine?" Scarborough quipped, lamenting Trump supporters' unwillingness to independently verify the president's claims for themselves.
"Because the truth has been devalued," co-host Mika Brzezinski responded. "And people must not care."
"But I don't understand!" Scarborough interjected. "So many of his lies, so many of his claims, can be completely blown out of the water with 30 seconds. Again, borrow your neighbor's Google machine! 30 seconds -- and it is a proven lie!"
"They don't care," Brzezinski said.
Scarborough, however, insisted that was no excuse for not caring about the truth.
"The truth is 30 seconds away," he said. "Check out Google."
