‘Stupid and unfair!’ Trump freaks out because Mueller may use his own tweets to nail him

President Donald Trump on Friday raged against reports that special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly looking at his own past tweets to see if they can help him prove an intent to obstruct justice in the Russia probe.

"Arrived back in Washington last night from a very emotional reopening of a major U.S. Steel plant in Granite City, Illinois, only to be greeted with the ridiculous news that the highly conflicted Robert Mueller and his gang of 13 Angry Democrats obviously cannot find Collusion, the only Collusion with Russia was with the Democrats, so now they are looking at my Tweets (along with 53 million other people) - the rigged Witch Hunt continues!" the president complained. "How stupid and unfair to our Country."

As criminal defense attorney Ken White explained on Thursday, Trump's tweets themselves would not be direct evidence of obstruction of justice, but would rather be used to establish motivation and intent for the president's actions.

“A thing that is not a crime can be EVIDENCE of a crime,” White wrote on Twitter. “This is particularly true when it comes to a potential defendant’s mental state — what they knew and when they knew it, what they intended, and so forth.”
