An argument about an Aretha Franklin biopic lead to a shooting and hospitalization in Virginia soon after the iconic singer's death was announced.

Norfolk's WTKR news station reported that witnesses heard two people arguing about whether or not the actress Halle Berry portrayed the Queen of Soul in a film.

The fight got violent, and one of the participants shot the other who was treated by first responders before being transferred to a local hospital for serious injuries.

Berry didn't play Franklin in a film, the report noted — nor did anyone else because such a film hasn't been released yet.

In 2011, the potential biopic's casting made headlines after the soul icon reportedly pushed to cast the "Catwoman" actress. In response, Berry said she felt she couldn't do Franklin or the role justice because she can't sing.

In January 2018, Franklin tapped "Dreamgirls" star Jennifer Hudson to play her role.
