During a Monday appearance on Fox News, former U.S. Attorney Michael Moore slammed Donald Trump’s lawyer for trying to discredit special counsel investigation of Russian election meddling.
Fox News host Dana Perino asked Moore to react to Giuliani’s claim that the special counsel investigation was illegal. “Is [Mueller] at risk of losing in the court of public opinion,” she asked.
“I think Bob Mueller is playing it just right, he keep his head down and move forward with the investigation,” he replied. “There is generally a rule in the DOJ policy that says we don’t come out and talk about things before we make a decision, before somebody is charged.”
“When you hear Giuliani — I had great respect for him during 9/11 … he’s made statements now, whether conversations that have been admitted took place and then they didn’t take place,” he continued. “I’m not sure tomorrow if he said the sun came out in the east, I wouldn’t go out and check.”
Moore said that Trump’s legal team was trying to use Peter Strzok — who was fired from the FBI on Monday — to attack and discredit the investigation.
“We’ve heard from the president’s tweets about the 13 angry Democrats, we’ve heard about Mueller… remember that at the end of the day, a number of federal judges and a number of individual citizens who are grand jurors have determined that there was meddling in the election and that Russia was hacking. Indictments have been issued. There have been indictments against in the administration and the campaign. That’s a problem.”
“All they can do is play the court of public opinion because they’re losing in all the courts of law,” Moore remarked.
