Always one to talk about himself, President Donald Trump celebrated the life of Aretha Franklin by linking it back to himself.

Trump called Aretha Franklin "a friend I knew well" and said, "she worked for me on numerous occasions."

In a tweet about the breaking news of the Queen of Soul's death, Trump had a more empathetic response.

"The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is dead. She was a great woman, with a wonderful gift from God, her voice. She will be missed!," he tweeted.

By contrast, former President Barack Obama remembered the legend by capturing the power and praise of her voice.

"Aretha helped define the American experience. In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect. May the Queen of Soul rest in eternal peace," he tweeted.
