Furious internet lambastes ‘delusional’ Trump for claim ‘Puerto Rico was an incredible unsung success’
President Donald Trump warned the Carolinas as Hurricane Florance approached the eastern shores of the United States. In the briefing by federal agencies, Trump went on to sing his praises of what he said was a success in Puerto Rico.
Calling the federal response to Puerto Rico a “tremendous” achievement, Trump said, “I think that Puerto Rico was an incredible, unsung success.”
A recent report revealed exactly the opposite. Nearly 3,000 Puerto Ricans died after Hurricane Maria hit, while under 100 died during the actual storm. The federal response was hung up on antiquated laws that prevent the island from bringing in assistance. Meanwhile, it was revealed some FEMA crates were never delivered or seriously delayed. Some areas of the island still don’t have power nearly one year later.
The internet erupted with fury at the president for both his negligence for the American island and his ignorance for what happened. You can read them below:

Trump simply does not get it. Thus his neglect towards Puerto Rico cost about 3,000 lives. Unfortunately, it seems he will never get it.

You SUCKED in Puerto Rico. FAILED Miserably

I feel so much better about #HurricaneFlorerence hitting the Carolinas knowing Trump is totally prepared like he was in Puerto Rico!! pic.twitter.com/D3mgb4viat

45 is still out here saying that since Puerto Rico is an island and it was hard to get to. Well the Middle East is thousands of miles away but this country has no problem bombing these countries in hours if they deem it necessary for "national security"

#TrumpIsUnfit just stated on CNN that his administrations handling of last year’s Puerto Rico hurricanes was “incredibly Successful”! He is not aware of 3000 deaths? Rest assured, he also stated we are ready for #HurricaneFlorerence

Hold on now…Puerto Rico was an 'unsung success' because of you…Mr. Trump?? No…let me correct you on that one…YOU threw rolls of paper towels…@Bethenny had plane after plane and ship after ship go in with supplies, food, and gift cards. SHE CARED…YOU DID NOT. #Bstrong

the biggest liar in modern history had the balls to say on tv that he thought they did an awesome job in Puerto Rico

The fact that the President of the United States thinks the federal response to a storm that killed as many people as the #September11 attacks demonstrates at a minimum his incompetence, and at worst his disregard for the lives of brown and black people. #PuertoRico #Maria

Try unsung tragedy. Roughly as many Americans died because of Trump's failure in Puerto Rico as died on 9/11.
Just another example of this administration's indifference to brown people's humanity.

You killed more PEOPLE IN PUERTO RICO THAN 9-11 and you call that a great JOB LIAR
— Malabu MP (@malabu26) September 11, 2018
Many people said thanks, except for everyone in Puerto Rico.
— Joe (@JMoy53) September 11, 2018
No, @realDonaldTrump. When you realize that more people died in Puerto Rico than in any other natural disaster in US history, as consequence of slow emergency response, it was incredibly sad.
— 🇺🇸Primo Pedro🇵🇷 (@FuegoGallo) September 11, 2018
Does he think talking about Puerto Rico and his great job helps him? Pathetic. You absolutely flunked Puerto Rico FYI. Do you have paper towels ready? Too later!
— Joanne Cecere (@CecereJoanne) September 11, 2018
You can't call a scenario where 3,000 people die "successful." No matter what you did, or in this case didn't do. #PuertoRico
— Amee KavaNope Vanderpool (@girlsreallyrule) September 11, 2018
Seriously he can go to fucking hell. I'm not surprised he's saying this, but this is fucking insulting to the people of Puerto Rico (US Citizens) and the families who have lost loves ones. https://t.co/kT6KNUkchn
— Kathy Griffin (@kathygriffin) September 11, 2018
"I think Puerto Rico was incredibly successful," POTUS says when asked about the lessons of Hurricanes past. "I actually think it was one of the best jobs that's ever been done….Puerto Rico was an incredible unsung success."
Death toll was 2,975 https://t.co/BDB1M82gDY

.@realDonaldTrump let thousands die unnecessarily in Puerto Rico — how can you say you did the best job?
— (((Charles Young))) (@CharlieYoungEsq) September 11, 2018
He blamed everything on Puerto Rico. WTF?!!!!
— Maria Sammut-Mascaro (@MariaSammutMasc) September 11, 2018
Trump is speaking about #Florence now and can’t help but pat himself on the back about #PuertoRico again and talk about how this storm will be BIG AND WET! He’s such a intellect. What a moron. Listening to him is a total joke.
— evie ღ (@eviebauer727) September 11, 2018
Trump actually still is boasting of his response to #PuertoRico. Shameful! 😱

Trump patting himself on the back for the response to Maria in Puerto Rico is fucking infuriating. It's easy to become numb to the inanity, but "Heck of a Job Browny" was horrific; this should be criminal. Seriously.

if Puerto Rico was an "incredibly successful" response, those people in NC are really screwed

This Stupident idiot just now about Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico was incredibly successful… they didn’t have electricity before the hurricane…. it is an island you can’t truck things to it…. we sent a hospital… SMH.

Leave it to Trump to make a mockery of #911Day and 3,000 dead in Puerto Rico all in one day.
— Amy Siskind (@Amy_Siskind) September 11, 2018
Trump is bragging about his handling of Puerto Rico.
3,000 people DIED. What an awful human being.
— Zerlina Maxwell (@ZerlinaMaxwell) September 11, 2018
President Trump was just asked about Puerto Rico… he referred to the response to it as “incredibly successful.”
Let’s remember *3,000 people died* there, according to this most recent GWU study.
— Brooke Baldwin (@BrookeBCNN) September 11, 2018
The current death toll for Puerto Rico – revised upward from 64 initially – is now estimated at roughly the same as those on Sept. 11, 2001. https://t.co/JsptEzlubE

Folks, @realDonaldTrump is delusional. The response to Puerto Rico was an absolute failure. And it still is. https://t.co/poFM1OqL69
