NBC News national security contributor Frank Figliuzzi slammed Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani while discussing reports that longtime Trump Organization executive Michael Cohen is seeking a cooperation deal with special counsel Robert Mueller.
"Tell me who Michael Cohen is in this story," directed MSNBC's "Deadline: White House" host Nicolle Wallace. "We tag him with this guy who would take a bullet for Donald Trump -- and it's too easy to say now he's pointed a gun at his legal liabilities."
"Well, a couple of thoughts. It was Rudy Giuliani who said that if anything happened after Labor Day from the Mueller team, he'd come down like a ton of bricks on Mueller," Figliuzzi replied. "I think things are still happening and it's going to be a ton of bricks on the president and the campaign staff."
Figliuzzi served as the former Assistant Director for Counterintelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"Michael Cohen, I view as the Forrest Gump in all of this. He was in the right place at the wrong time," Figliuzzi said, referencing the Academy Award-winning movie.
Figliuzzi said the key to Cohen getting a cooperation deal would be the defendant's ability to document the "flow of russian money or other money into the presidency or into the campaign, and the degree to which the president was told about that."
