Van Jones shuts down Rick Santorum: GOP would freak if Obama aides had to 'have a mini coup' against him daily

Former Senator Rick Santorum on Friday tried to brush aside news of chaos in President Donald Trump's White House, but he was quickly slapped down by Van Jones during a CNN panel discussion.

When confronted with reports that Trump aides regularly have to take drastic actions to stop the president from making disastrous decisions, Santorum simply chalked it up to the president having flaws just like any other president.

"Of course it worries me that that may happen on occasion," Santorum said. "I talk to people in the White House, that's not how it is everyday. Everybody has their bad days, everybody has issues and everybody has their weaknesses."

Jones, however, said it simply defied belief that Republicans would look the other way if similar stories were coming from Obama's White House.

"The idea that if Barack Obama was erratically running around the White House doing weird stuff, his staff had to have a mini-coup every day to stop him from blowing up the world, nobody on the Republican side would be [saying], 'Hey but he did a good job of bailing out Detroit, so it's all good!' That's not how fair-minded people think about this stuff," he said.
