Willie Nelson laughs at conservatives on The View for suddenly being outraged by his support of Democrats

Willie Nelson’s Tuesday visit to The View began with a derisive laugh at Trump’s base, which has suddenly and angrily discovered that the legendary pot-smoking country star supports Democrats. Nelson will headline a September 29 benefit concert for Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is challenging conservative Republican Ted Cruz for Senate in what’s expected to be a tight and tough race.

“You’re making headlines yourself with your politics,” began co-host Joy Behar, noting Nelson’s support for the Democratic upstart. “People are shocked at that, that you would support a Democrat. Why? Why? Do they have some misunderstanding of you?

Nelson started laughing. “I guess so, because I’ve been supporting Democrats all my life,” he said. “I haven’t hidden it that much.” Indeed, Nelson’s politics have never been much of a secret. Besides being a prominent advocate for legal marijuana, he claims to have smoked pot on the roof of the White House when Carter was president. Nelson also spoke glowingly of both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

Behar asked if he was “getting a lot of flak”, which made the country star laugh even more. “I love flak,” he said. “We’re not happy til they’re not happy.”

As for any Trump supporters in the audience taking issue with his stance, Nelson had a blunt response: “I don’t care.”

Meghan McCain erupts after she gets called out for whining that her GOP friends are ‘very upset’ about Trump

"The View" erupted into a shouting match over President Donald Trump's racist smears of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and other Democratic congresswomen, even though all the panelists seemed to agree his remarks were abhorrent.

Co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin blasted "self-righteous hypocrite" Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for defending the president's comments, and Meghan McCain challenged Democrats to defeat Trump for re-election.

"This is so bad," McCain said. "It's like nothing I have ever seen, and I don't think anyone in this room has ever seen before, and if you can't beat this, this blatant racism, what does this say about your party?"

CNN host forced to explain to Republican Rick Santorum why Trump’s attack on Democratic lawmakers was racist

During an appearance on CNN's "New Day" -- along with fellow Republican Charlie Dent (PA) -- ex-Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) received a lecture from host John Berman on why Donald Trump's tweets and attacks on four Democratic lawmakers were racist.

While Dent revealed that down-ticket Republicans running for re-election in 2020 are "terrified" that Trump's descent into overt racism as a campaign strategy may kill their chances of holding their seats, Santorum said he was disgusted with the whole spectacle while saying he didn't see the attacks as racist.

Asked about the president's attacks, Santorum tried to brush them away and blame the recipients of Trump's ire.
